Its celebration time. Eye sparkle, faces light up, hearts throb and spirits buoy up at the though of the 50 eventful years of Vijayapuram Social Service Society's presence in the five districts of Kerala. It gives us unbounded joy and pride at the realization that VSSS has helped to galvanize every fiber of people around us through its development interventions. Everyone who has encountered with the society says: "This is my own, my heritage, my roots, my story".
The fifth year long VSSS' symphony struck its first chord on 3rd October 1961. It all began with uncertainty written on its face, but hope etched in the hears resolutely stepped in the array; A small step for the promoters, but a giant leap for us. God's works mostly begin as something small and seemingly insignificant, like the tiny mustard seed. But then it germinates, takes root, grows and become a mighty tree. Such was the case with VSSS. The promoters were not schooled in scientific social work. They did not know what the future held. But in their hearts they had a dream, a dream which was theirs to realize amongst the people. especially the poor and the marginalized. Then it was chromos to be recorded and stored; now it is kairos to be celebrated and lived.
